A graduate of the National Defence Academy and National Defence College, where he earned the President’s Gold Medal, he is a qualified flying instructor and experimental test pilot. His contributions include testing India’s indigenous Tejas aircraft and operational weapons testing on Mirage-2000s. Tiwari’s valor during the Kargil conflict and leadership as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command (2023-2025) earned him accolades, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (2025), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2022), and Vayu Sena Medal (2008).
